Chow Chow kootu | How to make Chow Chow kootu
Delicious Chow chow kootu, cooked softly with mild spices, toor dal and coconut.
Kootu is an essential part of Tamil Nadu cuisine and in all kind of complete vegetarian meals/feast, this kootu will be served.
This chow chow is a perfect vegetable for making kootu.
Moreover, this chow chow kootu is as much tasty as healthy it is. The beautiful blend of chow chow, dal and coconut make this kootu so yum. Furthermore, try this kind of mild kootu with any tamarind based curry in hot rice which is heavenly.
Also, this chow chow kootu goes well with rice and puli rasam, tomato rasam and appams. The combination with chapati is a good north Indian choice.
Finally, you can use similar vegetables like ash gourd and snake gourd. But my choice for this recipe would be chow chow always. This is the only way to make my kids eat this vegetable
And regarding the lentil, I use toor dal for this one. Moong dal also suits ok for this.

Notes:
1) Firstly, for this kind of kootu recipes, always cook the vegetables completely until they become soft. Crunchy cooked vegetables will not be suitable for kootu.
2) Furthermore, you can use grated coconut instead of coconut paste.
3) Also, do not avoid asafoetida and cumin seeds as these give the unique aroma and aid better digestion.
