Chicken pizza | Homemade spicy chicken pizza

Learn how to make homemade spicy chicken pizza with easy stepwise pictures and a detailed video.

This chicken Pizza is too delicious to resist with one slice 😉 There are many types of pizzas available in the market and the difference comes from the choice of toppings.

Today I showed the spicy chicken pizza topped with spicy chicken chunks, capsicums and onions. This is one regular non-veg pizza in my home and for the veg option, I usually make paneer pizza. Before I bought my microwave oven, I used to do pan pizzas on a stovetop. My kids are very fond of pizzas and I prefer allowing them to eat homemade pizza once in two months. As homemade is always healthy and safe, it is better to bake pizzas at home. Moreover, making a complete homemade pizza is not that difficult according to me. All you need is to have pizza toppings/oregano, cheese and active yeast in your storage.

Of course, you can use ready-made store-bought pizza base and pizza sauce if you like to fix a quick pizza.

Alternative ingredients to make Chicken pizza:

If you don’t have oregano leaves just use red chilli flakes(dry grind 4 red chillies coarsely)

For those who don’t have pizza sauce, they can always use ketchup as a spread and will get a mildly altered taste.

Also, use olives/mushroom/paneer cubes for veg toppings.

Finally, mozzarella cheese is the best choice for making pizzas and there is no alternative for this cheese ingredient.

Ingredients
  

Ingredients:

  • (For 4 medium size pizzas)

To make pizza dough:

  • 2 cups all purpose flour (400g)
  • ¼ cup warm water
  • 1 tsp active dry yeast
  • ½ tsp sugar
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp oil
  • ¼ cup extra water to knead (approx.)

For toppings:

  • 1 cup onion slices
  • 1 cup capsicum slices
  • 200 g boneless chicken
  • 2 tbsp. oil
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp pepper powder
  • ½ tsp chilli powder
  • 1 tsp soya sauce (optional)

Other ingredients:

  • 300 g mozzarella cheese
  • pizza cheese
  • 8 tbsp. pizza sauce or
  • tomato ketchup
  • 1 tsp oregano (as per taste)
  • 1 tsp red chilli flakes (as per taste)

Preparation:

    How to make pizza dough/pizza base:

    • Take warm water in a cup, add active dry yeast.
    • Add some sugar and let the yeast dissolve in water completely.
    • In a few minutes, yeast dissolves and you will get a foamy liquid.
    • Transfer this liquid to a large mixing bowl, add some salt.
    • Add all purpose flour and start kneading.
    • Make a soft pliable dough.
    • Drizzle a tsp of oil, grease well.
    • Cover the dough and keep aside for two hours undisturbed.

      How to make the toppings:

      • In a flat pan, heat some oil, add onion slices and capsicum slices.
      • Saute for just two minutes, collect in a cup and set aside. Veggies should retain the crunchiness hence do not overcook.
      • To the same pan, add some more oil.
      • Add boneless chicken pieces and cook for five minutes in low heat.
      • Sauteing is enough to cook the chicken and add salt, pepper powder & chilli powder.
      • Finally as an optional ingredient, add soya sauce, mix and switch.
      • Keep these pieces aside.

      How to fix the pizza base:

      • In around two hours, the pizza dough enlarged and doubled in size.
      • Open the lid, give a soft punch to remove the extra air. Do not knead again.
      • Gently collect the dough, cut into four equal portions.
      • Dust the workspace, flatten the dough and roll into a thick circular base.
      • Spread pizza sauce generously. You can use tomato ketchup if you don't have pizza sauce. Click here for homemade pizza sauce.
      • Spread a layer of grated mozzarella cheese/pizza cheese on top of the sauce.
      • Now top with half cooked capsicum and onions.
      • Scatter cooked chicken pieces in random fashion.
      • Sprinkle lavish quantity of dry oregano leaves and red chilli flakes or pizza toppings powder.
      • For cheese burst chicken pizza spread another layer of grated cheese.
      • Preheat the oven to 200°C with the baking tray in.
      • Place the assembled pizza base in the baking tray/middle grill and bake for 8-10mins.
      • Slice and serve the yum spicy chicken pizza.

      How to cook on stove top/pan chicken pizza:

      • To cook on top of the stove, dry heat an old heavy based flat pan for five minutes.
      • Now place the assembled pizza base carefully on the hot pan, keep the stove in low heat.
      • Cover with a doom lid, cook for 15 full minutes undisturbed in low heat.
      • If you are using readymade pizza base bought from the store, then just fill the toppings.
      • And cook just for 5mins on stove top until the cheese melts down.

      Tips: 1) For making veg pizza, just replace the chicken pieces with paneer/mushroom and follow the same recipe. 2) To get a properly doubled dough, use dry yeast which is newly bought & active. If the water does not get a foamy mix in a few minutes means the yeast is not working. 3) Furthermore, if you are concerned about using yeast, still you can do pizza without doubling the dough. But the pizza would be like a flatbread without compromising the taste. 4) Also, if you are using a readymade pizza base, reduce the baking time to 5 mins until cheese melts. And for stovetop time it would be 8 mins. 5) Finally, the toppings are purely our choice like capsicum, onions, olives, peppers, baby corn and mushrooms. Use whatever you like, but do not crowd the pizza with toppings as it is difficult to bake.
