Sundal recipe, which is called as kondakadalai sundal in the south is a simple stir-fry dish, delicious protein-packed a snack. This sundal is a quick recipe, can be prepared in just ten minutes.
White Chickpeas or kabuli chana is white chana variety the one that is very soft and fleshy. There is another one black variety available in India, a harder variety. Always wash and soak these chickpeas for atleast 8 hours before cooking.
Chickpeas sundal or chana sundal recipe is a healthy protein dish for kids’ weight gain. At the same time, this sundal is a healthy breakfast for those who do dieting because this is very less in fat, but high in healthy protein and carbs which needed for the whole day.

Sundal recipe | How to make kondakadalai sundal | White chana stir fry
Ingredients
Ingredients:
- 1 cup white kondakadalai/white chana
- 1 tsp oil
- ½ tsp mustard
- ½ tsp jeera seeds
- 1 tsp gram dal
- 1 tsp split urad dal
- ¼ tsp turmeric powder
- 1 onion
- 1 green chilli
- 2 red chillies
- ½ tsp salt
- 2 tbsp grated coconut
- Few curry leaves
Instructions
Preparation:
- Wash and soak white chickpeas or chana overnight.
- After soaking these chickpeas it increases in volume hence soak in enough water.
- Peel and chop onion.
Recipe to make sundal recipe:
- Pressure cook soaked chana for 3 whistles. Discard soaked water and use fresh water for cooking.
- In a pan, heat oil, add mustard and jeera seeds.
- Add gram and split urad dal.
- Let them brown and add chopped onions, curry leaves.
- Add few curry leaves and a slit green chilli.
- Saute onions to pink color.
- Break red chillies into half and put into the sautéed onion.
- Add turmeric powder and required salt.
- Now add cooked and drained sundal into the seasoning pan.
- Mix everything with the sundal.
- Finally, add grated coconut and give a quick stir.
- Serve hot.

Tips/notes:
- Make sure to soak chana for eight hours, to cook it soft.
- Further, you can also add some salt while cooking chickpeas. In that case, reduce salt while sauteeing.
- You can add one tomato while sautéing or a few drops of lemon at last for a tangy touch.
- In beach sundal recipes, they make with black chana and mango pieces.
